Home blood pressure readings are very important to your primary care provider and can help with the diagnosis and treatment of high blood pressure (Hypertension). This machine can connect with an application and send testing data to your provider. Important for monitoring your health.
For treatment of conditions like prediabetes and diabetes where your body has difficulty regulating your blood sugar. Elevated blood sugars can cause consequences to your health. This may include damage to the eyes, kidneys and feet. Low blood sugar readings (less than 60) can be dangerous as well. Normal fasting glucose is less than 100 for adults and children. This monitor can be useful for your provider to be able to see your home readings. Unlike continuous glucose monitoring (prescription only) this unit requires a finger prick to obtain the capillary blood necessary for testing.
The oxygen saturation is considered an additional measure of a person's vitals and can yield important information about your health. It can help your medical provider to determine if you are becoming hypoxic (a condition where you do not have enough oxygen in your cells). This particular machine can send data to your medical provider and help them to evaluate your health.
This scale is a great option for remote patient monitoring because you will be able to save the readings and submit them to your primary care provider. Weight is only one measure of a person's health status and must be taken into context of a person's individual metabolic makeup and body composition.
This thermometer is just an example of one you can get for the home. It is especially helpful when deciding if you need to treat a fever with medications or to notify your primary care provider to changes in your health. Having an accurate thermometer in the home is especially important for children. If the temperature is above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius) then you may want to consider treating the fever and possibly contacting your provider. Purchase at our health market or get one at your local pharmacy.
I recommend everyone have a first aid kit in the home as well as the car. You never know when it may come in handy. There are many out there and you can make one yourself with supplies ordered online or purchase this one in our health market. It should be accessible in case of an emergency and everyone in the home should know where it is. This is also essential travel gear for your next adventure.
I have been using NeilMed for years and recommend it for the treatment of upper respiratory infections or rhinitis (runny nose). I recommend using distilled water when you fill it (this can be found at most grocery stores or pharmacies). Wash the bottle out afterwards and even put a little rubbing alcohol into it after use to help it dry. Keep in a cool dry place for storage and replace the bottle after 3 months. We never leave home without our NeilMed sinus rinse and it's an important part of our travel gear and to maintain overall health.
Don't use cotton swabs to clean your ears, it may push the wax up into your canal creating a plug that is difficult to remove. I have recommended my patients place about 4-5 drops of this solution into the affected ear and let set for 10 minutes before washing out. Use warm water to irrigate the canal and repeat daily for about 5 days. Consider getting one for your ear health or keeping a bottle as part of your travel gear.
This is not the same salt as the one that you use in your NeilMed sinus rinse (don't use this instead even though a refreshing lavender scented sinus is tempting). Many options exist outside of our health market. I have recommended this to patients suffering from hemorrhoids or toenail infections. The warm soak is soothing and can help reduce hemorrhoids and decrease infection burden.

Use a cream or lotion like this one to help treat the dry skin in Winter. It is also an important treatment for Eczema (a skin condition that leaves the skin dry and itchy) and to maintain healthy skin. Apply liberally to areas affected, but if you are unsure if you have Eczema or another skin condition, please see your provider or make an appointment at Doc Bee well
This sturdy backpack was perfect for our expedition to Ecuador and will be part of our future travel gear. We were able to fit all our stuff in two of these. The ability to switch from a backpack to luggage made it handy when we transferred from Boat, Car, Bus, Canoe and plane.
If you are traveling in a rainforest or a cloud forest one of these can be very handy. We included it in our day packs as part of our essential travel gear. Though we did not need it for most of our trip, it really helped on days that we needed to be out in the rain.
A sturdy set of hiking poles can be invaluable to a long walk on unsteady trails. We were thankful to have them in the Galapagos where you do a lot of walking on ancient lava beds. They were also useful in the Amazon keeping us a safe distance from all the creepy crawly things. Beware that TSA may not allow this travel gear to be in your carry-on luggage and they may need to be checked.
